This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect through the Detox Your Dome mobile application and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your information.

This policy applies to the Detox Your Dome mobile application (iOS), our website at detoxyourdome.com, and any related services we operate.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

We collect the following information when you interact with the app or website:

Email address – used to create, log into, and identify your account.
Display name – optional, set during onboarding or profile editing.
Detox goals – optional categories you select during onboarding (for example, skincare, home cleaning).
Terms and policy acceptance – timestamp and version number recorded when you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use the app, we automatically collect:

Scan history – ingredient lists you scan, stored server‑side to power your scan history and related features.
Subscription status – your current plan (free or Pro/Decoded), managed via RevenueCat.
Device and app information – device type, operating system version, app version, and similar technical metadata.
Usage and diagnostics – anonymized error logs and crash reports when the app encounters issues (via Sentry).

Information We Do NOT Collect

We intentionally limit data collection. In particular:

We do not collect precise GPS location.
We do not access your contacts or other apps.
We do not collect biometric data.
We do not track your browsing activity outside our app or website.
We do not permanently store product images you scan; images are processed to extract ingredient text and then discarded.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the app – authenticate your account, sync your scan history, display regulatory data, and deliver Pro/Decoded features.
Process subscriptions – manage subscription status and purchase validation via RevenueCat.
Generate AI explanations – send extracted ingredient text to the Anthropic API to generate plain‑language explanations (Dome Decoded). Anthropic processes this text to fulfill your request and does not retain it for training.
Improve recognition accuracy – use aggregated, anonymized scan extraction data to improve ingredient text recognition (OCR).
Fix bugs and improve stability – use error logs to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues.
Communicate with you – send service‑related messages (for example, account notices, policy updates) and, if you opt in, product updates or feature announcements.
Provide support – respond to your questions, requests, or feedback.

We do not use your personal data for cross‑context behavioral advertising and we do not sell your personal information.

3. How We Store and Process Your Data

We use reputable third‑party providers to operate our services:

Supabase (secure PostgreSQL database, US region) – stores your account profile, scan history, detox goals, display name, and acceptance timestamps.
RevenueCat – manages subscription status and purchase validation. Your use of subscriptions is subject to RevenueCat’s own Privacy Policy.
Sentry – receives anonymized error logs and crash reports to help us monitor and fix app issues. Subject to Sentry’s Privacy Policy.
Anthropic API – receives ingredient text temporarily to generate AI explanations. Ingredient text is not retained for training and is processed only as needed to respond to your request.

Data may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate, subject to appropriate safeguards where required by law.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

Service providers – Supabase, RevenueCat, Sentry, Anthropic, and similar vendors receive data only as needed to perform services on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using it for other purposes.
Legal and safety – we may disclose data if required by law, regulation, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Detox Your Dome, our users, or the public.
Business transfers – if Detox Your Dome LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of its assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, and the successor entity will be bound by this Privacy Policy or an equivalent policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active.
If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where a longer retention period is required by law (for example, accounting or tax records).
We may retain anonymized, aggregated data (which does not identify you) indefinitely to analyze trends and improve our products.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction – update your profile information in‑app or contact us to correct inaccurate data.
Deletion – delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). This permanently removes associated personal data from our active systems, subject to legal retention requirements and technical safeguards required by Apple’s in‑app deletion rules.
Data portability – request an export of your data in a machine‑readable format.
Restriction / objection – in some regions, object to or restrict certain processing activities.
Marketing opt‑out – opt out of marketing communications at any time by using unsubscribe mechanisms or contacting us.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including:

The right to know what categories of personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
The right to access specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
The right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
The right to request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share your personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising).
The right to non‑discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

8. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU or EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides you with the following rights:

Right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) in applicable circumstances.
Right to data portability.
Right to object to processing and, where applicable, to restrict processing.
Right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Legal bases for processing. Our legal bases under GDPR include:

Consent – for example, when you create an account, set optional preferences, or opt in to marketing.
Contract – to provide the app and services you sign up for.
Legitimate interests – such as securing our services, preventing abuse, and improving app performance, where these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
Legal obligation – where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable laws.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Detox Your Dome app and website are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete that information.

If you are between 13 and 18, you may only use the app with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

10. Security

We implement industry‑standard security measures to protect your data, including:

Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/SSL).
Secure database access controls.
Access limitation to personnel and vendors who need data to perform their duties.
Ongoing monitoring for technical issues and abuse.

No system can be guaranteed 100% secure. We cannot promise absolute security of information transmitted to or stored in our systems.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as we add features, change vendors, or as legal requirements evolve. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or on the website and, where required, seek your renewed consent before you continue to use the service. The effective date at the top of this document shows when it was last updated.

Terms of Service

1. What Detox Your Dome Is

Detox Your Dome is an ingredient and material transparency platform: a media brand, educational resource, and community focused on helping people understand what is in the products they use every day.

Detox Your Dome, the app, is a regulatory data platform. It displays factual information sourced from named government regulatory bodies — including the EU Cosmetics Regulation, US FDA, Health Canada, California Proposition 65, EU REACH, IARC, IFRA, and Japan MHLW — to help users look up and understand regulatory classifications for ingredients in their products.

The app is a data aggregator, not an opinion engine. When the app displays that an ingredient is “restricted,” “listed,” or similar, it is reporting how a specific regulatory authority has classified that ingredient, not making a statement that any ingredient is unsafe, harmful, or dangerous to any individual.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the Detox Your Dome app or website, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use our services.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Detox Your Dome. If you are between 13 and 18, you may only use the app with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

3. No Medical or Safety Advice

DETOX YOUR DOME DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL ADVICE, SAFETY DETERMINATIONS, OR HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS. Nothing in the app constitutes advice to use or avoid any ingredient or product.

Regulatory classifications vary by jurisdiction and context. An ingredient listed as restricted in one country may be widely permitted in another, and an ingredient flagged by one regulatory body may be approved by others. Our app shows you what regulators have said; it does not tell you what to do.

Always consult a qualified medical professional for health‑related decisions. Do not rely on our app to determine whether a product is safe for your personal circumstances.

4. Data Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of regulatory and scientific information presented in the app. However, you understand and agree that:

Regulations change and our database may not always reflect the most recent updates.
OCR (optical character recognition) technology used to scan ingredient labels may produce errors.
Ingredient matching is based on names and may not identify every ingredient or may occasionally flag false positives.
Scientific findings are sourced from published literature and regulatory assessments and are presented for informational purposes only.

We are not liable for any decisions or actions you take based on information provided in the app. You acknowledge that our data may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Detox Your Dome offers a free tier and a paid subscription (“Decoded” / Pro tier) with expanded features. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store.

All billing, refunds, and payment processing are governed by Apple’s terms and policies, not ours. We do not have access to your full payment card number. Subscription management (including cancellation and renewal) is handled through your Apple App Store account settings.

If you cancel, you retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds unless required by applicable law or Apple’s policies.

6. Prohibited Uses

You agree that you will not:

Scrape, copy, bulk export, or systematically extract our database or app content for commercial or competitive purposes.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to access our source code or database architecture.
Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
Misrepresent our data or present our regulatory information in a way that implies medical, safety, or professional advice.
Attempt to bypass or circumvent subscription paywalls or access Pro features without a valid subscription.
Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the app or its infrastructure.

7. Intellectual Property

All content in the Detox Your Dome app and website — including database architecture, user interface design, written content, branding, and compiled regulatory data — is the intellectual property of Detox Your Dome LLC, except where otherwise noted.

Regulatory data is sourced from public government databases, but our selection, curation, organization, and presentation of that data are proprietary. You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission, except as allowed by applicable law.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP AND ALL RELATED SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON‑INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error‑free, or that any defects will be corrected.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DETOX YOUR DOME LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP OR SERVICES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE APP OR SERVICES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50).

NOTHING IN THESE TERMS IS INTENDED TO LIMIT OR EXCLUDE ANY LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED OR EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW (FOR EXAMPLE, CERTAIN CONSUMER PROTECTION OR DATA PROTECTION LAWS).

10. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

If you have any dispute or concern, please contact us first at app@detoxyourdome.com and we will try to resolve it informally.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you and Detox Your Dome LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the app will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis, administered in Massachusetts under the American Arbitration Association’s Consumer Arbitration Rules.

Class and representative actions. To the extent permitted by law, you and Detox Your Dome LLC each waive the right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or any other representative proceeding, and agree to resolve disputes only on an individual basis. If a court determines that this class‑action waiver is unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim must proceed in court rather than in arbitration.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or on the website and may require you to accept the updated Terms before continuing to use the service.

The effective date at the top of this document shows when these Terms were last updated. Continued use of the app after non‑material updates constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app and services, in whole or in part, at our discretion if you violate these Terms or misuse the service (including but not limited to scraping data, attempting to circumvent subscriptions, or engaging in fraudulent or abusive behavior).

You may terminate your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting us at app@detoxyourdome.com. Termination will not affect any rights or obligations that by their nature should survive (for example, limitations of liability and dispute resolution provisions).

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of law principles, except where another law is mandatorily applicable based on your location.
